Story

Welcome to Black Bear Gardens, where our story is rooted in the earth, the laughter of children, and a deep belief in the power of connection. We're a family of six – mom, dad, four amazing kids, a couple of playful dogs, some curious cats, and a bustling flock of chickens – living out our dream on our beloved hobby farm.

Life here is a breath of fresh air, quite literally. We're blessed with crystal-clear water, abundant fresh air, fertile soil, and the constant beauty of the natural world surrounding us. It’s a place where we strive to slow down, soak it all in, and truly live in the present moment – a challenge in today’s fast-paced world, but one we embrace wholeheartedly.

At the heart of Black Bear Gardens is a profound passion for caregiver mental health and the vital caregiver-child bond. For over 20 years, our founder, a licensed social worker, has dedicated her career to working with families. She understands the immense pressures and endless information bombarding parents today, often leading to feelings of guilt about doing things "right" or "wrong."

This understanding fueled the creation of Black Bear Garden's programs. She believes that increasing our own mental health as caregivers has the greatest, most profound impact on our children's mental health. In a world overflowing with conflicting advice, it's easy to feel overwhelmed. Our vision is to offer a different path – a space where we can simply do our best, together.

Imagine watching your child's small hands explore the earth, listening to the symphony of nature around you, and building genuine bonds with other caregivers in your community. Here, you'll have opportunities to ask questions, share experiences, and build practical skills, all within a supportive environment guided by a licensed mental health professional.

Black Bear Gardens is more than just a farm; it's a place where families can flourish, where mental well-being is prioritized, and where we discover the strength and joy that come from connecting with nature, ourselves, and each other. We're so glad you're here.
